Nettlebank Pygmy Goats

Eating Habits

Goats do not graze on grass alone; they WILL NOT REPLACE the lawnmower, like people they will eat a little bit of everything they like. But remember they can over indulge on tit bits so everything in moderation or you will end up with a goat that looks like a barge balloon, it is also not good for their health. We feed a small amount of goat concentrates (4oz a day) along with this they graze freely in the field. Our goats also get those tit bits I was talking about, it is either a carrot or a leaf or two of cabbage or an apple, half a slice of brown bread goes down well too. In autumn and winter grass is getting scarce so hay is added to the diet along with potatoes, potato peelings are also ate these can also be put in the oven and dried out. These potatoes crisps are enjoyed by all our goats. Minerals are an essential part of their diet, a mineral lick should be made available, they will also need fresh water daily, in winter this can be luke warm, it helps to fight the winter chills!

Goats do not eat everything some items can make them ill and can even lead to death.

If your unsure do not feed it!!!
